The latest figures from a recruitment body might be discouraging for any contractors that made ‘getting a new job’ one of their New Year’s Resolutions.

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), whose latest figures cover November last year, found that the number of contract vacancies for jobseekers fell by five per cent compared with figures from the previous year.

Congratulations to Adam Connell, Customer Services, on being awarded ‘September Employee of the Month’.

Adam consistently goes the extra mile displaying enthusiasm and professionalism in a high work volume environment.

We have a very tasty latest entry for our Umbrella Bake Off.

Daniel Bird from Accounting kept the competition strong and the office fed with his Carrot and Walnut Cake with cream cheese filling.

We have 20 staff taking part so expect more than a bakers dozen of delicious cakes over the coming months! To make sure everyone in the department takes part they have the motto “No Bakey, No Cakey!”

Umbrella.co.uk celebrating national freelancers day 2017

Today is all about recognising the hard work and dedication that goes into operating as a freelance worker, and helping those workers be fully aware of how to manage their business as effectively and smoothly as possible.

Congratulations to Mark Hancock, Marketing Executive, who won Employee of the Month for October. Mark is a marketing graduate who joined us in May having spent 6 months working in Los Angeles as a design intern for a large art gallery. Mark has consistently impressed everyone with his enthusiasm, design skills and ability to multi task across all areas of marketing. Well done Mark!

Midnight on July 31 is the deadline for making your second ‘payment on account’ to HMRC.
If you are self-employed or you own a business and you think that you have to make an advance ‘payment on account’ for this current tax year then this is your last chance to pay before you receive a fine.
