The Office of Tax Simplification has released its initial report into what is often called "The Son of IR35".

The findings seem to recommend to either scrap IR35 or keep it and police it better. Amendments and the possible merger of PAYE and NIC's are also cited as providing an opportunity to make the taxation of small businesses fairer.

PayMatters are pleased to announce that a customer satisfaction survey has shown that, based on the sample surveyed, contractors working and being paid through their Umbrella Company service are generally very happy with the service provided.

From today (1st October 2010) the National Minimum Wage has increased from £5.80 to £5.93 per hour.

If you are working through an umbrella company this can affect you if you receive a very low or zero commission element in your normal wages.
