Employers named and shamed in National Minimum Wage Clampdown

02/25/2015 - 09:45

HMRC have published a further 70 employers that were found to be in breach of the National Minimum Wage Regulations.

High up in the list of workers being underpaid were care workers. Also the retail and hospitality sectors featured highly.

Business Minister Jo Swinson said:

“Paying less than the minimum wage is illegal, immoral and completely unacceptable. Naming and shaming gives a clear warning to employers who ignore the rules, that they will face reputational consequences as well as financial penalties of up to £20,000 if they don’t pay the minimum wage.”
