11/11/2014 - 12:23

From November 2014 HMRC are issuing 24 million personal tax summaries showing the tax you have paid and how it was spent. You should receive a tax summary automatically if you have paid any income tax in the prior tax year.

Contractor tax summaries should therefore be sent to any contractor who has worked through an umbrella company or been paid through their own limited company.

It will show a contractor’s annual taxable income, tax and Employee National Insurance Contributions plus the Employers National Insurance paid for your employment by your employer/umbrella company.

The summary will also show how this money was spent.

The tax summary will not include indirect taxes you have paid such as VAT on goods you have purchased.
