Umbrella.co.uk gains FCSA associate status

08/17/2015 - 09:48

We are delighted to announce that Umbrella.co.uk has become an associate member of the Freelancer and Contractor Services Association (FCSA).

Founded in 2008, the FCSA is the trade body for professional umbrella employment and contractor accountancy providers. It works to support the contractor services sector and the UK’s flexible workforce.

In order to be granted associate member status, we were required to demonstrate our commitment to compliance. Associates and members must adhere to the FCSA Charter, which confirms that their businesses operate legally and are run by ‘fit and proper persons’.

“I am delighted to welcome Umbrella.co.uk to FCSA as an Associate, a clear demonstration of their commitment to supporting contractors.  Having worked together in recent months on various HMRC consultations I have been impressed by Umbrella.co.uk’s determination to secure the best outcome for contractors who are at the heart of their business." Julia Kermode, Chief Executive.

Umbrella CEO Nicholas Holmes sits on the FCSA steering committee for the ongoing HMRC consultation on travel and subsistence (T&S) expenses reforms, and has been involved in FCSA-led lobbying in support of contractors and freelancers.

He said: “Membership of the FCSA is subject to rigorous auditing procedures, with a strong focus on compliance. As such, this is a great accolade for our business. Along with our membership of APSCo and Professional Passport, we are amongst the most compliant organisations in our sector.

“I would like to thank all of our hard-working staff for their continuous efforts in ensuring that we operate to the highest ethical standards. We are committed to compliance, and this latest boost shows that we are getting things right.”

The gaining of FCSA associate status is the second piece of good news for Umbrella.co.uk in a matter of days, coming hot on the heels of our move to new, larger premises.
